Introduction

Electrolysis is a promising option for carbon-free hydrogen production from renewable and nuclear resources. Electrolysis is the process of using electricity to split water into hydrogen and oxygen. This reaction takes place in a unit called an electrolyzer. Electrolyzers can range in size from small, appliance-size equipment that is well-suited for small-scale distributed hydrogen production to large-scale, central production facilities that could be tied directly to renewable or other non-greenhouse-gas-emitting forms of electricity production.

The 3D oxygen evolution electrode for water electrolysis hydrogen generation equipment adopts the design of 3D interpenetrating porous structure, and its high porosity greatly improves the volume efficiency of the electrolysis electrode and hydrogen production efficiency. The new electrode has been used in our self-developed and manufactured medium pressure AWE hydrogen generation equipment.  

Core Technology: Advantage

  • Using NiFe alloy composite material. Only uses low-cost materials which are easy to produce.
  • It adopts the 3-D electrode, which greatly improves the volumetric efficiency of the electrolytic electrode and the efficiency of hydrogen production.
  • Lightweight and corrosion-resistant which can with stand high current density, 50% ~ 100% higher than traditional electrodes.
  • Coupling with renewable energy sources such as water, wind and solar, it can produce hydrogen with total zero emission.
  • Energy saving: average unit voltage 1.76V, current density 4600A/m2, DC power consumption≤4.2kW·h/m³, and the technical indexes are 15%-20% higher compared with the industry average.
  • Zero discharge: no discharge of lye, no pollution.
  • High current density: since that the electrode withstands 50% to 100% higher current density compared with conventional electrode, it’s smaller compared with the equipment with same specifications. It’s more suitable for hydrogen generation from renewable energy.
  • Long product life cycle: the life cycle of the electrolyzer is over 10 years (maintenance-free during this period).
  • Intelligent: full digitally monitored, and long distance monitored operation is allowed.
